- 1 Cor. 16:14
A couple of days ago the Lord gave me a prophetic word regarding His remnant. It is this:
“Some of you have lost so much in this season – jobs, homes, finances. It is not because of anything you have done wrong. Do not listen to those who would point fingers at you. I allowed you to be emptied out so I could pour more of My anointing oil in you.
I am building endurance in you. Others did not want to wait and have ventured out ahead of Me, but you allowed Me to test you.
My timing is perfect. I have a great work for you to do, and just as great are the rewards and blessings I have for you because you were willing to wait and allow Me to build that endurance in you so you would grow your roots deep.
I have saved the best for last and you are My best, My remnant. As the remnant is the last piece of fabric on a bolt, you are as finely woven silk.
My beautiful, beautiful remnant, I am well-pleased with you.”
The first time I heard the word “remnant” I was taking a sewing class. Fabric is measured in yards, and when there is less than a yard left on the bolt you cannot really use it to make an entire outfit, so it is considered an unused scrap of fabric or remnant.
However, in the bible the word remnant is anything but an unused scrap. In fact, God considers His remnant of Christians to be of great importance and very precious to Him. They are the ones who truly desire to live godly lives and who have chosen to follow the Lord no matter what the cost. They are called the Remnant because, unfortunately, they are a small part of the whole. They refuse to compromise their principals to “fit in” with the rest of the world, and are willing to do whatever God calls them to do.
In 1 Kings 19, the prophet Elijah was assigned to confront the enemy and is now hiding in a cave complaining to God that he is the only prophet left, but God reminds Elijah that He is part of a remnant of people, 7000 to be exact, just like himself who God has separated out from other people, and called to do a great work. This discussion between God and Elijah is also found in Romans 11:4-5 which says:
LORD, they have killed Your prophets and torn down Your altars, and I alone am left, and they seek my life”? 4 But what does the divine response say to him? “I have reserved for Myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.”
5Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace.
Whenever there is a group of people that God is asking to turn and serve Him, most will walk away, but there is always a remnant that chooses to turn and follow the Lord, as in 2 Kings 19:29-31:
‘This shall be a sign to you:
You shall eat this year such as grows of itself,
And in the second year what springs from the same;
Also in the third year sow and reap,
Plant vineyards and eat the fruit of them.
30And the remnant who have escaped of the house of Judah
Shall again take root downward,
And bear fruit upward.
31For out of Jerusalem shall go a remnant,
And those who escape from Mount Zion.
The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this.’
The remnant are those people who decided to no longer turn to man for help; but instead relied on God alone and trusted Him solely for help, guidance and protection.
Isaiah 10:20-22 confirms this:
20 And it shall come to pass in that day
That the remnant of Israel,
And such as have escaped of the house of Jacob,
Will never again depend on him who defeated them,
But will depend on the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.
21 The remnant will return, the remnant of Jacob,
To the Mighty God.
22 For though your people, O Israel, be as the sand of the sea,
A remnant of them will return;
God always, always makes a way of escape for his people who somehow get caught up in the things of this world, or with people who do not really desire to serve the Lord. However, our God is the God of second chances, third chances, fourth chances, fifth chances, and more. If today, you feel that you have done something that God would not be pleased about, know that if you apologize and ask for forgiveness; He forgives you. It’s that simple.
People are not so quick to forgive us, but God is. He knows our weaknesses; after all He created us. It is God’s unconditional love for us – the love He puts no conditions on, the love with no strings attached – that causes Him to take us back into His loving arms. God is looking for a remnant of people that will say, “Hear am I Lord, send me” – Isaiah 6:8.
Oh, and by the way, He also takes our sins and throws them away and remembers them no more. P.S.: only the Devil reminds you of your past. So, stand clear of your “friends” who scold you for things God has already forgiven you for.
Often times we think we have to try and fix our mistake ourselves before we ask God to forgive us. We do not have to do that. All we have to do is cry out in the middle of our “mess”
and God will hear us, comfort us, and deliver us out of it. Sincere repentance is telling God, “Oops. Sorry. Please, Lord, forgive me, and put me back on track and facing in the right direction. I desire to be part of your remnant.” God knows our hearts and that we had a moment of weakness, or we got deceived and fell into a snare or trap set up by someone else to hurt us. He understands.
Now the remnant in these last days will endure many things, but God has been preparing His remnant for a long time. In fact, most of us feel as if we have been wandering in the wilderness longer than others that we see out there doing ministry – that is because we have been waiting longer than others. You see, the remnant is a precise army of God’s people who have learned to wait for instructions from God before moving forward.
Though it feels like we have been doing nothing, God has actually been using this time to pour into us strategies on how to stand in the face of adversity so we can be used by God to bring comfort and help to His people. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal (i.e. physical things), but mighty (i.e., spiritual gifts) for the pulling down of strongholds that hold God’s people captive. – 2 Corinthians 10:4.
In these last days, you will see many miracles, sign and wonders of God. The remnant is a group of unified Christians coming together to edify and encourage each other when we feel all alone like Elijah the prophet, and working together as a team of people with different spiritual gifts that will cause us to pray over, counsel and set God’s people free from the bondage of the sins they feel trapped in.
The remnant is rising up in this season, ready and in position to help all who want and desire help. My earnest prayer for you is that you, too, desire to be a part of God’s remnants.
