- 1 Cor. 16:14
When I lost my job I wanted to journal my day-to-day life. So, I started walking every morning with my cell phone taking pictures of the beautiful scenery around me, hoping the phone would ring with a job offer. At the end of my walk, even though no one called with a job offer, I would go home with beautiful pictures.
I was in awe of the beautiful things God created, but the most beautiful thing God ever created is YOU. God does not make mistakes. We are not an accident, we were planned by God. God knew what day we would be born, and who our parents would be. I am adopted, so God planned who would conceive me, and He also planned who the people would be who would raise me.
I do not care if your parents said to you, “Oops! You were an accident" or "We did not plan for you” or “Gee, you were a surprise!” You were very much planned, and very much loved by God in the process of being planned. Let me provide an example for you. Ezekiel Chapter 16.
Ezekiel was a strong warrior for God. He was a serious fellow, and God used him for some heavy-duty stuff, but tucked away in the middle of that book was the most tender and loving paragraph I ever read. I found it one year on my Birthday. I had just turned 30 years old;
there was no one to celebrate my birthday with. I was sad, and I was overwhelmed by loneliness.
The subtitle of this chapter in the Bible is called, “God’s Love for Jerusalem.”
Ezekiel 16:3 states: “and say, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD to Jerusalem: “Your birth and your nativity are from the land of Canaan; your father was an Amorite and your mother a Hittite. As for your nativity, on the day you were born your navel cord was not cut, nor were you washed in water to cleanse you; you were not rubbed with salt nor wrapped in swaddling clothes. No eye pitied you, to do any of these things for you, to have compassion on you; but you were thrown out into the open field, when you yourself were loathed on the day you were born. “And when I passed by you and saw you struggling in your own blood, I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’ Yes, I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’”
In bible days, had you been abandoned in the city, many more people would have been able to find you, but being abandoned in a field meant your chances of survival were next to none. Now, God sees everything; so He knows everything that happens to you, and everything that is done to you by other people.
Did you know we were created by God out of love so He could have someone to love? Did you know God loves us so much that He promises to never leave us or forsake us.
It was these words that let me know how much God cares for me and you, and though we may have been “tossed into a field” by a parent, a boyfriend, a fiancé, or a husband, God was right there to pick us up, clean us up, and get us ready for what HE has for us. God is not finished with us yet. We are destined for greatness!
We are the apple of God's eye and when He looks upon us, He sees the beautiful person He created . . . the one He loves and the one He desires to take care of, to comfort, to encourage, and even to celebrate our birthdays and special occasions with us when no one else does. God longs to spend time with us.
We are that beautiful to Him !
